Newsletter No. 4 - July 2001

Have you got your entry in yet? Did you know that entries close on 31 August 2001? We will consider any entries after this date but these will incur a late entry fee of $10, so please lodge it soon (even if you don't have all the information at hand).

To date we have had forty two official entries. This has been a magnificent response – thanks to all of you. We have had one from Western Australia and they are bringing their newly restored AS4 on the back of a trailer (Why? Did you think they were going to drive across in her!)

Clarification of Registered Entrants

The fee will provide all registered entrants with a Rally Bag, a Rally Grill Badge and information booklet. A Rally Book (with photos) listing all registered entrants (including those not driving an A30/35) will be compiled. The rally fee also goes towards subsidizing the Luncheon on the Paddle Steamer and the Gala Dinner. Administrative costs, insurance premiums, postage and paper, handout prizes plus sundry items account for any remaining funds.

A check of the entries to date have brought to light some irregularities ie., multiple entries under one registration. The committee does not mind that additional passengers are nominated on the entry form in order for them to ride in the Cavalcade (which is restricted to A30/35's only). However this does not then allow the passengers to partake in the Luncheon on the Paddle Steamer and Gala Dinner under that one original registration. In situations such as this we would expect those persons to have their own separate entry registration and help to defray the costs of the event.

The executive committee consists:

Getting There

Approximate distances to Echuca are – Adelaide 670 km; Ballarat 210 km; Brisbane 1430 km; Canberra 580 km; Geelong 270 km; Melbourne 205 km; Sydney 795 km. For those that are coming by plane from interstate – we have also catered for your needs! We have arranged a shuttle bus service for pick up and drop off from Tullamarine Airport and several nominated suburbs. This service is free and is being offered by Reillys’U’Drive Coaches. Contact our club member Joe Reilly (03) 5272 3222 for any further information and please book your spot if you wish to take up this offer.

Accommodation

In respect to the availability for accommodation, we have been contacted by the proprietors of the four official motels. They have advised that they will only be holding the remaining rooms till 31st July 2001. After that date they will release them to the general public and will have the normal tariffs reinstated. This is only fair in that the Melbourne Cup long weekend is a busy time for them in Echuca and there is a great demand for accommodation. So please get in before 31st July. They are once again:

Pevensey Motor Lodge 365 High Street Echuca (03) 5482 5166
