Prewar Austin Drivers Club Tasmania Tour 2003

TASMANIA TOUR – 22nd April to 2nd May 2003

Have you ever thought, “One day I am going to tour around Tasmania in my ………… ( FJ, Chev, Nash, Model A, Austin, etc, etc)”?  Well!  Here is your opportunity.  It is much more fun touring doing a tour like that with other like-minded people.  Why don’t you join us?  We are going for 12 days April 2003.  The tour is organised by members of the Prewar Austin Drivers Club and is open to ALL motor vehicles and ALL clubs.

Some members of the Prewar Austin Drivers Club are attending Austins over Australia in Ballarat over Easter 2003.  Following this, we are touring throughout Tasmania.  You may wish to meet up with us in Ballarat or may prefer to meet up with us in Melbourne.  Arrangements have been made to leave tow vehicles and trailers safely in Melbourne.  Vehicles will travel free on the Spirit of Tasmania during this period.  (Vehicle restrictions apply – maximum 5 metres in length, 2 metres wide & 4.2 metres high).

The tour will be quite casual in that everyone will attend their own individual bookings and expenses.  We will provide you will all details where we plan to stay, etc so you can book at the same places or you may choose a different standard or location of accommodation.

It is arranged that we will be in Hobart for Anzac Day.  This enables those wishing to attend the Dawn Service and the Anzac March to do so in Hobart.  You will need to make your own enquiries in this regard.  An optional tour is planned for that day departing after the Anzac March at approximately 11.30am

Very soon I will be able to provide you with the full list of accommodation, phone numbers, etc, where we are staying and the booking is then up to you.  Costs are being kept down as much as possible, but also considering that most of us don't like to rough it.

Daily travel has been kept to a minimum with you travelling under 100kms / 60 miles on the average day.  This allows time to take in the sights along the way.  Following is the itinerary that is planned.  This may be refined but any changes will only be minor.
