We live in the east of The Netherlands and own an Austin Seven. This afternoon we have been working on our Austin Seven "Van" 1937. The engine is completely rebuild but does not want to run properly( bad starting, backfiring, not possible to run at idling speed) We checked the ignition timing, replaced sparkplugs, checked carburator and so on. Could it be possible that the camshaft is timed incorrect? Another problem is the clutch. If we depress the clutch pedal, we can se that after the depress bearing? is pushed towards the clutch, it is only possible to push the pedal 3 to 4 millimetres. This means the clutch is depressed in only 3 millimetres. Is this the way it should be?( clutch is overhauled completely) Hope someone can help us in getting this Austin on the road again.

Thanks in advance
