Nick there is only one safe way to buy an a7, they were made from 1922 to 1936, with many model changes, but the thing is that all of the mechanical bits will fit any car, it would be possible to buy a 1924 chummy and find that it had a 1930 engine and gearbox!! things you MUST DO - join your nearest Austin seven club, decide on the model you want and study it in detail, find someone in the club who has the same model (and knows all about it) who is willing to view the car with you, look at more than one car if possible. make sure that you get the log book (v5) and that the numbers all tie up with those on the chassis/body/engine, don't be shy, we are a good crowd and are always willing to help newcomers, I have a 1929 Fabric saloon and a 1928 Chummy, if you should choose one of these models, you can email me, i will be happy to help in any way i can, i have had sevens for 39 years!!! time flies when your happy. all the best Ian
