Penrite is very expensive over here and only available at specialist outlets, whereas good old Duckhams "Q" 20W/50 was recommended for Austin Sevens in the 60's & 70's. It is now available again in "Classic" form and is relatively cheap. I found 15W/50 leaked too much and straight 30 (or 40) is not readily available anyway ("R" is sometimes available, but very dear); 20W/50 is a good compromise and probably, being an older formulation, ends up as 30 grade fairly soon anyway! I have tried 0W/60 in the Ulster and found the oil pressure was about 5 psi greater than the 20/50, but I put the latter back in again. The Q is only SF/CC spec, whereas the synthetic is SJ/CF I believe; the latter is also £33 for 4 litres, whereas the Q is about £8.95 a gallon!! As to the non-runner, I wait with baited breath!
