I've never seen a comment on what an original Ulster oil pump is like but the problem with standard oil pumps and pressure fed cranks is that by the time the oil has made it to number 4 big end it can be a bit low on pressure and volume. The usual mod is to over-bore the pump to give a greater swept volume. Alternatives for serious racers are the the Alan Raeburn gear pump (as Barry mentioned) or making a "double bodied" pump out of two A7 ones (this is quite complicated but basically delivers double the volume). I'm led to believe that a Hillman Hunter oil pump is widely used as well but I've never seen one.
