Johannes, sorry, I did fail to understand your question properly and yes I do think it will weaken the back plate if you make the hole the same size; In fact I would say you must not do it. I have tried to use an adjustable reamer and failed miserably; the pins would not go in due to the misalignment. I then had to put in new bushes, buy standard pins and buy a reamer - then available but expensive (£50 Stirling) and send away my axle to have the eyes shrunk back to standard size. The axle, incidentally, was done by the Seven Workshop:- The Seven Workshop Elms Cross Yard, Frome Road, Bradford On Avon, Wiltshire. BA15 2EA.
