I have these parts in my Ulster, but I didn't put it together and don't intend to pull it apart just yet! However, I have a 16 gauge copper head gasket on my special. I machined 20 thou of the centre two pistons and equalised the weight on the skirts of the others. This too has a Phoenix crank, but with Austin rods and Australian pistons; it revs to about 6500 and I have never had any problems. The advantage of the copper gasket is it's ability to be anealed, and hence last for ever. Do NOT use a gasket other than another copper one, on the water branch if using the late Ruby head, especially if the compression is raised, as it will blow the head gasket for sure. The other alternative is to use a thick cylinder base gasket, solid not paper of course.
