Richard, when converting from 6 to 12 volts the current required by any item is halved, hence the resistance of the windings on the wiper motor and indicators needs to be doubled. This will require thinner wire to fit in the available space and more turns. The fuel gauge is not so easily modified probably and taking a lower current is best re-calibrated by a series resistor (multiplier). This will need to be about the same equivalent resistance as the gauge to enable it to read the same. The ammeter will just basically read half what it did before. You don't mention the starter motor, however on the car I converted to 12 volts I use the existing motor which runs very quickly! Do this at your peril though, best to turn over with the handle first, just in case some water has not found it's way down the bores. I can't do this as I don't have and cannot fit a handle, but have been warned that the motor will launch itself of the top of the crankcase in such circumstances. To sum up, it is probably best to consult an auto electrician!
