I used for some time the Mk 1 Supaloy head with the ordinary high compression gasket used normally on the late Ruby head, it gave no trouble. I changed to a late Ruby head purely because of VSCC originality purposes, post-war heads are banned and the Ruby type has to have 18 mm plugs fitted. As to the water gasket, either don't use one - use Hylomar, or just use the ordinary one as used on the early Austin heads. If you are referring to the Mk11 head, then a side water manifold gasket should fit. Bruce has the heads the wrong way round - the long water gasket one is the Mk11. The MK1 is the one with the small water gasket and longitudinal SUPALOY scrip.
