Yes, I have just reassembled the motor in my Comet 65 and after discussions with many, including Barry Lovelock, I decided to use no gasket and Loctite 515 "Master Gasket" (This is NOT a silicone based product). I used the Loctite 515 to replace basically all the thin paper gaskets normally used. A good technical data sheet is available at the Loctite web site. Assuming your surfaces are in reasonable condition and flat, this seems the best method I have found. I now have over 800 kms of high temperature motoring (its summer in OZ) and NOT a sign of ANY oil leaks! I have tried cleaning up sample seals using the product and encountered none of the problems that the silicone products cause in this area. After an email from Barry Lovelock, I also used the 515 on both sides of the selected fibre washer under the lovely square headed camshaft bolt head - I did use 609 (I think) on the threads of this bolt - being careful to keep it out of the bottom of the hole! Again, with care in making and lapping the fibre washer, this has been 100% successful. The down side is the product is not cheap - I understand a number of other companies market a similar product under different names.

I still can not believe there are no oil leaks, a first for my Sevens!

Good luck....

Bruce

PS There are some photographs (and other tips) included in the 'Technical Information' section on this site showing the Loctite 515 being used on this motor.
