Can someone please tell me the rear hub/axle taper? I believe they are given in degrees and the angle is the total angle between opposite parts of the shaft. I am assembling an offset rear axle and had trouble with the diff locking because of gear locking inside the diff. I basically had to pull the short nearside halfshaft out about 150 thou. The only way to restore the hub then was to enlarge the taper. I measured the angle with a micrometer calculation at 7 degrees and after removing about 9 thou on the lathe, have achieved a reasonable fit after lapping. But I would like to know what the taper was manufactured as. The components are from Don Rawson but he could not remember if the taper was 6 or 8 deg!! Thanks, Sean Smedley. sean @kemsing .clara.net
