Bruce, the sender unit is indeed located on the top of the tank, generally! You have not got one, what will you do for a gauge? Anyway, that can be recified at a later date. I always remove the internal filter, when I working on a tank, but if there is no sender hole this will be difficult through the filler neck!
Bruce, I would not advise "slop", I spend alot of my working life burning the bloody stuff out, because it has been shoved in on top of dirt and rust, therefore not creating the reqired effect. If there was an easy way to do the job, I would not do what I do, for a living, and be paid for it! Talk again soon, Greg Stevens FUEL TANK REPAIR SERVICE Brisbane Australia.
