So far, I have had the head off and freed two sticking valves, replaced the core plugs after cleaning out the water ways, rebushed the spindle in the carb, replaced the diaphragm in the petrol pump, replaced the points and HT leads, and fitted new plugs. I have removed, cleaned and reassembled the sump, gauze and oil pump inlet plate. I was replacing the perrished water hoses when I found that the aluminium inlet on the side of the block had dissolved where it joined the bottom hose. When I attemted to undo the nuts on the two studs, both studs sheared off near the face of the block. I have been able to drill one out and fit a helicoil but the othe one has resisted all attempts. Two questions, any suggestions on how I can remove the remaining stud and can anyone recommend a brand of water additive to reduce the corrosion of the aluminium.
