Just a note, the reason I decided to fit the little pump as described on this site was not because the Seven was boiling (even on 40 degree days) but more for Barry's reasons "the water pump simply stops localised heating and bubbles forming". The car is mildly tuned and the radiator system excellent. Despite the fact that the car did not boil, I was also uncomfortable driving it on 35 to 40 degree days - especially up some of the hills around Adelaide. This seems similar to Martin's original comments on this topic. The 4 bladed fans used on export models helps with cooling at idle in our summer conditions but actually works against you once moving at speed - it really impedes the air flow under these conditions! One is most likely better off with a 2 bladed fan (or indeed a lot better off with no fan, as mentioned above) under moving conditions. But running with no fan, in traffic, in Australian summers, will not work well for long! It is interesting to read that all your UK cars can get away with no fans - do you not have problems on your 25 to 30 degree summer days with overheating at idle?

Bruce
