I stand by my earlier comments! I always use antifreeze - my Ulster was outside last night and it was -5. As sure as eggs is eggs, if you don't, with the old blocks and heads you will get severe corrosion if you just use water; with alloy heads it will be just as bad and manifolds too. I have had antifreeze in one Austin for 12 years, with changes and no trouble experienced. There is nothing fundamentally different about our cars and a modern and you wouldn't catch anyone with any sense using plain water in a modern. As for the oil - why? Most Sevens deposit some in the water anyway and this is the only possible reason than interactions are taking place and upsetting the coolant. Not using antifreeze is, quite frankly, a load of bilge!
