I am the owner of a 1929 English Bodied Austin 7 Tourer. I am seaking some information on the hood bows. I am about to retrim the hood and sidecurtains, but would like to check on the originality of the hood bows. The easiest way to understand the differences are to refer to the pictures in the Austin Seven source book by Bryan Purves, on page 251, picture 611 shows a pressed steel piece at the back of the hood bow. Picture 614 shows a thick and wide wooden piece on top of the windscreen. This piece is considerably wider than the windscreen and protrudes out to the left and right sides. My Austin 7 and this picture are the only cars I have seen with this type of set up. Can any one help me with any information about this type of hood bow???
