Many cars are not as they "should be", and many cars of the same period differ in various ways. However, this does not make them "wrong" and certainly modifying to fit a perceived "correct" ideal will not make them right! 1929 was a year of high production for Austin 7s and as a result some parts manufacture was outsourced. In some cases the "same" part was manufactured by a variety of companies over a relatively short period. In essence my thoughts echo those of Ian - once a part is modified (we may look back and say butchered) the originality, what ever that may be, is lost FOREVER.
