I must admit, mine are usually 1.250 and 1.275 if I'm really lucky, but temperature must be taken into account. In the "old days", one apparently stored the battery in the winter, if not using the car, by removing the pitch with a hot iron, cleaning the plates etc, then storing it all on a shelf! Of course, the radiator, not having antifreeze, was drained every night and re-filled every morning when late for work...... One a slightly different tack, I read the other day that rubber cased batteries deteriorate quicker then modern plastic ones due to the rubber contaminating the chemistry. Funny, I always think the old types perform better.
