Thanks Greg, The length is 3 7/8",the section is triangular and is about a couple of thou. tight in a 3/16" hole. The marker dye is red, "Steam" is at 3 5/8" from the bottom, From the "steam" line, for the next 1/2" down, the motor is said to be running at high efficiency if somewhere within this half inch, the next 3/4" down is "cool motor". Do you know what was used to bed the thermometer in? it looks like it may have been plaster of paris, also did this material fill the brass tube completely, or was it just in the edge of the hole to stop the glass from steaming up?
