Has anyone actually modified the front shocker arm in the "Panhard Rod" style described on Page 91 of the Williams book and also on pages185-186 of the Companion?
I was thinking of doing this on the special I am building but in looking closer at the suggestion it seems wrong. If one does as described, will the front axle not simply move through the arc of the shocker arm that has been fixed to the axle? If so, as the axle goes up and down, would the axle not move sideways?? Maybe the idea is this amount of movement is considered small and controlled compared to the "unlocked" configuration.
Any suggestions appreciated!
