Ive just looked it all up on the web . And I now know all about the WL (Watts Linkage) and the SRLLL (Scott-Russel lateral locator linkage) etc etc. If I had an RS Escort I would fit a WL today!
I think the historic racing committee might object to one on an Austin Seven.
If anyone else is unaware of this technique the following might help.
The Web definition of a Watts Linkage is:
A method of lateral location of a solid axle in which a vertical member is mounted to the axle via a pivot, and each of its ends is connected to the chassis by a transverse push rod; roll centre is defined by the axle pivot and does not move laterally or vertically with respect to the axle.
