I agree with Barry, I think oiling and greasing causes more of a problem then it solves. Having said that, I have several 1930's photographs of a tool (like a funny "G" clamp) that was sold to allow the greasing of leaf springs. For what it is worth, the Comet has zinc spacers fitted by someone years ago. On the Meteor project, I am using .6mm black plastic (poly something or other....) spacers on both the front and back springs as Barry describes on his modern. Apparently teflon was used but this material has better wear properties.
