I have been watching this item with interest as I am painting an Aluminium bodied special. It occurred to me that Courteney's RNZAF seem to be able to make their aircraft last a lot longer than almost any one one else, perhaps they have learnt from their years of experience. So off into the back yard (26°C clear blue skies) with an industrial green plastic scourer and a fine sprinkler on the hose. Courtenay, I have to say that wet scouring Al. is magic, the oxide gets washed away and it is immediately apparent which areas are clean and those that are not. P.S corrosion, erosion, electrolysis, what ever: does occur between Al. and SS, ask any one with a boat, the classic place is between the Al. mast and stainless fittings, the usual solution is to bed the fittings on a gasket or a compound that keeps the metals apart. regards Ron
