G'day,

I have just striped down my front spring for de-scaling (yep, it's that bad), and what is left of the central bolt was 5/16 and what looks like a 12 point head, ex-aircraft by the looks of it but badly corroded.

The hole size in the spring leaves is 3/8 clear and the top of the top (shortest) leaf is countersunk, suggesting that the original "bolt" was a special, with a cylindrical head to key into the 1/2" locating hole under the front chassis forging and a countersink underneath (a bit like a wheel nut).

Can any one please describe what would have actually been there in the 1924 original including the bolt nut and lock mechanism?

Thanks,

DG
