G'day,

Thanks for the info chaps. No, I have had no reply until now, but that is OK.

Wow Bill, you have done it again with your knowledge! We will have to cryo freeze your brain after you drive off into the sunset for the last time and then work out how to dump the knowledge into an accessable data base! :-)

I am confused now, and what I thought was "original" may be not. I don't have the spring here, so from memory, the ends do thin out, taper in slightly in width, then are rounded. There are no grooves (except wear). The central hole is 3/8" diameter clear. The pan head 5/16 rivet makes sense though, as it would fit the hole in the front forging nicely. There are 9 leaves so it looks like a slightly heavy duty version eh!

Yes, I have a later chassis, but the whole car is a bitsa, made up of various years from '24 to '29, the spring was not attached to the chassis, so could be from anything.

Now, how do we decode what springs were used on what and when?

Thanks, DG It looks like I need to go shopping!
