Patrick, I am surprised that you have such poor performance on pull away,The 22FZ was fitted to other cars apart from A7s,so you may have the wrong choke tube fitted if the carb was a spare, I assume that you have the correct jets, I would try another set from a car that you know is running ok, It may be that the holes have been opened up in the distant past by a "performance freak", the slow running jet must not be split (which they frequently are)and must be adjusted carefully as follows...increase the tic over slightly, undo the slow running jet lock nut, turn the jet slowly clockwise until the engine just begins to faulter, then slowly turn anti-clockwise,the engine will speed up, stop turning just when it starts to slow, do up the locknut, re-adjust the tic over, you should now be able to flip the throttle open without the engine stalling, and it should snap back to tic over without stopping. If you cannot achieve this state of affairs, suspect air leaks on the induction. If you still have problems on pull away, check the ignition timing is not retarded, advance until you just get a roughness as you open the throttle from tic over (hard to explain here its something you learn over the years!!)Is the magneto OK ? Hope this is a help Ian
