When number 4 lets go big time these things happen... and nitriding goes about 40 thou down so it's possible to do it without wrecking it. Frankly I'm a sceptic as to whether a crank can ever be dynamically balanced on it's own. Surely you have to balance the flywheel, clutch and so on at the same time.....
