Many in the U.K. use 1 1/4" SU carbs. (850 Mini Carb) mainly because they are cheap and plentiful at Autojumbles.

1 1/8" carbs. are not as easy to obtain and in any event, for most Sevens the difference is academic because neither carb. opens fully when used on a Seven.

The common starting point for needles seems to be:

1 1/4": Weak GG, Standard EB and rich M. Most seem to find EB best although perhaps a touch on the rich side. My Trials car is set up this way and goes like hell!!

1 1/8": Weak M7, Standard BA or BD and Rich MA or M6 (these are the needles for the Morris 8 application). When I had a 1 1/8" carb. on my Box Saloon, I found the BA needle the best but the performance little different from the standard sidedraught Zenith fitted with a larger main jet.

Hope this is of use. STEVE

For both carbs, use a Blue Spring.
