My '36 tourer has pins, however, they do look fragile and I wonder if this why they were dropped after such a short while. There's certainly no way I would use them on a high performance engine - (the tourer most certainly isn't)! If you look at a well worn pin system you will see flat pins and a matching groove in the cup.
