In the spirit of sharing information! Most of which has been given to me, I will describe my racing A7 which is nearing completion. 1932 2 bearing block, ports enlarged and smoothed. CR set at 7.5 by measurement of the head and machining to get the ratio right. 1.2" dia inlet valves. (ex Hillman Imp) 1.0" dia exhaust valves. ditto Austin Maxi valve springs. Phoenix crank, Renault 4 rods and pistons, 58mm bore! 805cc capacity! Pressure fed crank, oil in via a fixing on the crank end. Full flow filter. Full race Tim Myall cam. Basically a good original one with 50 thou off the back of each lobe. Aluminium head, copy of the late Ruby one with the plug almost over the valves. Head and block dry decked. ie no water moving across the mating face, all these holes blocked off. Water goes in at front of block, out at the back, does a U turn into the back of the head and comes out at the front of the head. Modern water pump driven from the camshaft pulley. There should be no hot spots in the head now. One 1.25 SU carb, ex Mini. No 6 needle, blue spring. Lightened flywheel with double springs in half of the locations. No starter or ring. Bump start only! Close ratio 4 speed gearbox. Don Rawson modified constant mesh gears giving 3.2 1.93 1.22 and 1 ratios. 15" wheels with 520x15 on the front 560x15 on the back. These are Citroen 2cv sizes. All the best to fellow A7 builders. Sean Smedley.
