Hi again, I have loads of old shoes, And am always surprised how many of them have the linings pop riveted on!!!!,I have also seen this on clutch linings, I suppose others have found that it is almost impossible to get them down tight with the proper rivets (even if you are lucky enough to have the correct stepped punch), I think that bonding is the only way to go on this, I have broken the ends off quite a few linings in the past in the name of originality, and have never been really confident that they are tight enough even if i have managed to get a decent set of tails on the rivets, just one more tap and you scrap the lining, I suppose the logic is that a tight pop rivet is better than a loose brass rivet, but i would not use them myself, What do others think? Regards Ian
