My guess is either the flywheel has come loose or you have a broken crank (most likely near number 4 journal). The flywheel problem is very common and I had this happen last year. Care is required when assembling the flywheel/crankshaft tapper. This time even after cleaning and “lapping” the surfaces with a fine grinding paste (be careful not to over do this “lapping” in!) I decided to use a drop of loctite like many others have in the past. Hopefully it is only a loose flywheel and not the crank but until you take it apart I don’t think you can be 100% sure either way. It will be interesting if our more experienced Austineers know of a way to pick the difference other then dismantling? The fact the motor did run on again would also support the flywheel theory to me…
