We here downunder, Queensland at least, we use a locally ground cam. Great for revs, but VERY suitable for "highway cruising". Works best with the late head and 1 1/8 SU.
Simply put, the exhaust lobe is duplicated to the inlet lobe. I now have used this cam on some 5 engines, both mine and others for friends, over period of 6 years.
