The real point to consider is that the idea is not only illegal now, in the UK anyway, but stupid and dangerous too if used at night and in reality the solenoid takes so much current that it is better for all concerned to use another bulb on dip. Having said this, it is a super mechanism and you could fit it both sides if you really wanted too!
