Are you having a problem getting the cork that seals on top of the glass bowl? Yes, I think this is what you saying, should you need to replace the cork seal, use a suitable sized "O" Ring. Petrol proof and does not shrink. I hope this is the answer you want?
Sometimes it can be hard to follow these stories, as they tend to vary from the original so much. I hope this can help someone out of a problem. Be sure the "O" Ring is the right size, so the bowl has to sit on it, not roll it away when the thumbscrew is tightened.
