From recent correspondence in this column it seems likely that not everyone realises that Austin 7 fans where made in two different pitches, it would be very easy if one didn't know, to fit the wrong one, could this be the reason for some of the persistent overheating problems that have come to my notice of late? A simple check is to start the engine and put a piece of tissue against the rad , if you have the right fan it should stay in place as it is sucked in, if it blows off you have the wrong fan!
