Having read all the articles on 12 volt conversion, I am still confused. I bought a 1936 Special with the dynamo "converted" by the removal of the third brush. I therefore decided to go for twelve Volts and bought a conversion made by Grindrods Garage and supplied through Austineers. The system states it must be negative earth and I am told that the coil and SU petrol sump should work either way - is this true I am having difficulty with the dynamo connections as the two screws are not marked F D but are coloured black and red, but to confuse the issue the dynamo as supplied with the car has the red wire coming from inside the dynamo connected to the black screw and similarly the black wire connected to the red screw. Before I blow up Mr. Grindrods new regulator, can someone help.
