Funnily enough, my tourer (see"Nobby Springs Revisited" for your expert "Export" tyre comments please!) originated from Dunmow and it has rusty flitch plates! Trying to explain to the MOT man it was NOT part of the chassis was not worth bothering with!
Flitch plate is a common (UK, anyway) term to describe the "side bits" below the "A" post, or where the door is hung (unless you have suicide doors of course) and I don't know the origin - anyone help?
