Would be interested in other comments, but I would say no - except for early Pram Hood boxes. These have numbers stamped that are the same or close to the c/case numbers because they were starting off from scratch and most also have the casting date inside the bell-housing. It's my opinion that like diff. casings a new number started every time there was a slight alteration to anything internally. (For those who don't know, virtually every A7 diff. Austin ever made has the day, month, year stamped into the top of the housing, plus the cwp ratio - eg 9/44 - plus the after-alteration nos. mentioned, plus I think an identification code of the assembler). G/boxes probably similar except for the date. Pity. Regards, Bill
