Something seems a bit strange to me here, as the LWB Ulster Special I sold recently, would cruise at a steady 70 mph, that's 112kph, as straight as a die and could be swerved if necessary. It was on 4.00x17 tyres however - it was even safer with 4.50's on the rear, but overgeared, as they all are with these. In contrast to this, my Ulster on 19" wheels, with 3.50 section tyres is unstable at less than that. Or to quote Ralph Nader "Unsafe at any speed" !!

I might add, that the LEJOG "record" (We don't really like to publicise this, but you can't change history!), is little more than 15 hours for 870 miles or so, or about 58mph (93kph) AVERAGE speed, with a SWB Gordon England "Cup". So it can be fairly assumed the car was on the legal limit (at least) for most of the time.

Barry.
