Here in sunny Queensland we don't need to hold any choke on once the engine has fired, however I was always under the impression that the original (unworn)choke pull had a series of grooves around the stiff ferrule part immediately behind the knob, which could be engaged in the bottom of the keyhole shaped bracket on the dashboard, thus allowing a choice of choke positions. Would be interested to know if I am right, or have I come across a clever mod by a previous owner?
