Can I suggest having all these cams compared equally by the use of a "cam Doctor". This is an electronic gauge that measures and stores the permanent details by computer. These, or your chosen specs can then be fed direct to the cam grinder if need be, but more importantly for your use, printed and compared. My cam (still untested!!) was produced this way in Palmerston North NZ. Having decided on the lift required, it was found the base circle would end up too small, the tip too sharp and the ramps would be too fierce. As a result the lobes were tigged then ground back to size allowing a modern profile to be used. The cam doctor will document base circle size, lift, profile, and ramp shape, then speed of opening (useful for determining camfollower radius - the computer can calculate this too) plus many other measurements too techy for me! A data base of these cams and other successful, and maybe unsuccessful, sports/race cams may be invaluable for those trying to pick the right power curve for their machine and it's intended use.
