Just a note to follow on from the small electric water pump mods described in the Technical Information section of this site last year. This was Greg Stevens idea originally. It fits in the bottom radiator hose below the generator (see the article for details). Last year I added a standard controller unit (normally used on thermo fan units) and a 6 volt relay to turn the pump on and off automatically. I placed the controlling sensor into the top radiator hose (head end). I adjusted the set point to 185 degrees F. This works much better then remembering to manual switch the pump on when need. Overcooling when you forget to turn the pump off is also now solved! The temperature is now controlled within the differential range of the controller. Apart from the senor coming out of the top radiator hose, the small pump and other components are not noticeable. The down side is the cost. If you have convert to a 12 volt system Davies Craig also make a variable speed controller for the pump. The variable speed controller costs about the same as the pump so I don’t think many Sevens will be fitted with them! I don’t know if the pumps are sold in the UK. I have seen a number of these fitted to vintage cars here in Australia over the past 12 months.
PS Harry, a modern 3 roll core is used (can remember the fans per inch).
