Yes, Dennis, you're correct - the rachets (with a spacer BK27 in between the two pieces) just hang there. You leave the front bolt loose enough to swing the handle back and it will make it's own track on rachets to give you the correct arc position, then tighten the bolt. On your box the Pivot which screws into the box will probably be BK26, by 1929 it had changed to BK38, which was an almost-pointed pivot by comparison. (Possibly changed same time as the alteration to the trigger, longer block and guide which occurred 24/6/29). If we are talking about the same illustration as Ian, it appeared in the very early Handbooks (eg. 352 for 1923 model) and remained unchanged until they illustrated the coupled handbrake and it's mounting (to a flat strap which was attached to the central longitudinal chassis member).
