Dennis, All specials I have seen boxed have had anti-crush sleeves over the bolts through the chassis. Obviously I haven't seen any of Bill's yet. For your car, the engineering will not be nearly as stressed as a racer/special, so I guess not so critical. Many boxed sections are drilled to lighten. That may be practical for your machine if you don't think it will detract from the period appearance. Another thought is to bend up and fit a shallow top hat section inside the chassis rails to make the boxing less obvious. Solid riveting instead of welding is also more period looking. (but how many eyes will be peering under there??)
