Bill, I have just noticed that the same chassis mounted arrangement is shown in the "Brake" section of my 27 handbook!!! but the photograph in the front of the book of the Bare chassis clearly shows the ratchet fitted into the gearbox. I think we can end this as a case of incorrect artwork at the "Austin". Regards Ian P.S I had noticed your Nov.13th contribution
