Just remembered something to add to Courtenay's mention of cutting holes in chassis boxing etc. Many years ago one of our Clubmembers with A7 racer decided to lighten his chassis and everything else incl. crossmembers, radius arms, shocker blades etc . Over months of spare time work, he'd (a) ruined several hole saws, (b) just about worn out his drill, (c) in my opinion placed certain areas in jeopardy by removing their potential strength, (d) lost a lot of sweat. At the end he weighed the circles he'd cut out. Result : weight 2lbs. As I pointed out - he could have gone without breakfast on race day for the same result. So what do others think of this weight-reducing exercise - is it really worth the hassle? About the only advantage I can see is that cutting holes in the boxed section under chassis rails allows paint to be inserted. Cheers, Bill
