Allegedly, the "E" Series engines were made on the same machine that the Austin Ten engines were made!
This may go some way to explain the appalling oil consumption that occurred with the Austin Maxi's. I remember topping one up once and it took 2 1/2 pints to get the oil BACK ON the dipstick!!
