Hello Steve, You have confirmed my own thoughts Re the oil reverting to 20 grade!! I have been in communication with Castrol with a number of questions, one of which was just this point which they failed to answer, I don't expect they would want to advertise that their oil turns to water in a few months. I have a suspicion that this processes is accelerated in our crude and basically worn out gearboxes, in retrospect I think it wouldn’t be a bad thing to change it every season. Like you I bought 25 Litres of "Rhino Heavy Duty Gear Oil" SAE 140 many years ago that we shared around, It was from a firm called "Silcolene Oils" I will see if they still exist. Thanks again Ian
